Nick Oliveri And The Mondo Generator: Dead Planet: SonicSlowMotionTrailsSuburban Noize Records
Mondo Generator was founded by in 1997 by Nick Oliveri as a side project and has released a few albums over the years. Following his departure from Queens Of The Stone Age couple years ago, he made the band his main project. For their latest album Oliveri recruited Winnebago Deal's Ben Perrier (guitar) and Ben Thomas (drums) and lengthened the band's name to Nick Oliveri And The Mondo Generator. They have a different touring lineup and will be on Ozzfest this summer.

Dead Planet: SonicSlowMotionTrails is a raw and powerful mixture of metal and punk. There are songs that are short, simple and catchy along with songs that are longer and more complex, but no less catchy. There are a lot of different styles and influences exhibited on the album, but it all flows together well.

Oliveri also displays several different vocal styles. Most of the time it's an angry mix of yelling and singing, but other times he sings melodically, and does it pretty well. There are a few filler songs here, but overall Dead Planet: SonicSlowMotionTrails is an engaging and enjoyable album.
