Necronoclast - The Plague

Moribund Records
Necronoclast is a one man black metal project from Scotland. Their debut was released earlier this year on a Korean label. Moribund Records signed Necronoclast to release their latest, The Plague, and plans to re-release their debut in the near future.

The Plague is sorrowful and bleak black metal. The tempos are mainly slow, and the atmosphere of the music is somber. There are moments where the intensity and speed are cranked up and the evil meter pegs into the red. Even though the songs are sometimes dissonant, there is a thread of melody running through Necronoclast's music that adds some warmth to the icy riffs.

The vocals are unintelligible black metal rasps, but are delivered with a reasonable amount of diversity in pitch and emotion. Necronoclast has their own vibe, but definite influences of groups like Burzum. If you like your black metal on the slow and somber side, check out The Plague.
