The New York band Negative Reaction has been around since 1993, and they are the epitome of doom metal. Everything about them is dark and depressing, from the band name to song titles on their latest CD that include "Pain," "Empty" and "Sorrow." They play a sludgy, fuzzy brand of doom/stoner metal that also has a slight East Coast hardcore influence.
The vocals of Ken E. Bones are quite diverse. He sings melodically on a few songs, and his voice is of average pitch. But when he uses the hardcore style screams, his high pitched voice makes him sound like a pissed off Muppet. If you want a CD that will pull you down into the pit of despair and angst, you can't go wrong with Negative Reaction.
