My home state of South Dakota isn't exactly known as a musical hotbed. Can you name an artist or band from South Dakota? Not many have moved beyond regional success. Nodes Of Ranvier are out to change that. After several successful albums on a smaller label, they are ready to take it to the proverbial "next level" as they've signed with Victory Records.
Defined By Struggle sees the band exploring a few different genres. They are a metalcore band who also incorporate Scandanavian metal, death metal and thrash metal into their music. The songs are intense, and combine technical mastery with groove and hooks. Ferocious and aggressive, there is plenty for metalcore fans to sink their teeth into.
The vocals are mostly hardcore style yells with a few melodic vocals here and there. And even though the music and vocal style of Nodes Of Ranvier are brutal and angry, the message behind the lyrics is positive and uplifting. They are a force to be reckoned with in metalcore, with excellent musicianship and very memorable songwriting.
