The production gives plenty of punch to the low end, with the bass more audible than on most metal CDs, and a very potent drum sound. The Potvins showcase a nice variety of guitar styles, ranging from straight ahead downtuned riffs to metalcore squeals to rock star solos.
Bideau's vocals are very diverse. There are a combination of melodic and screaming vocals, but a lot of nuances within each style. He sometimes sings very smoothly and passively, other times with more power and aggression. He also varies the pitch and intensity of the screams and yells very effectively. One technique I'm not quite as fond of is the distorted melodic vocals. They add that industrial feel to those tracks, but seem a bit outdated to me.
The most polarizing song on the CD is their cover of the Frankie Goes To Hollywood eighties hit "Relax." It's an unusual choice for a metal band considering the song's subject matter. Their interpretation of the song is actually pretty decent. One Way Mirror are veterans, and have the chops and chemistry to go into the studio and knock off a CD in a couple of weeks. One Way Mirror doesn't reinvent the wheel, but is an enjoyable side project.
