P.O.D. - When Angels And Serpents Dance

Columbia Records
P.O.D. were one of the more successful nu-metal bands in the late '90s and early '00s, releasing a platinum and a triple platinum album. As the genre faded, so did P.O.D.'s commercial success, although the band soldiered on and has continued releasing albums.

When Angels And Serpents Dance is P.O.D.'s seventh studio album, and also marks the return of founding guitarist Marcos Curiel. Produced by Jay Baumgardner (Evanescence, Godsmack), the CD features guest appearances by Helmet's Page Hamilton, Mike Muir from Suicidal Tendencies and the Marley Sisters.

This is a very diverse CD. P.O.D. breaks out the metal riffs and rap vocals on some of the songs, but When Angels And Serpents Dance also features mainstream rock songs, slower acoustic based tracks and some reggae. I didn't have very high expectations for this one, but was pleasantly surprised. There's some filler, but also some catchy and memorable songs.

(released April 8, 2008 on Columbia Records)
