Point Blank Rage is a new death metal band from Montreal, Quebec Canada, but they have members with a lot of experience. Vocalist Alexandre Leblanc has been in Neuraxis and Atheretic. They also brought aboard a skilled production team of Jean-Francois Dagenais (Kataklysm, Misery Index) who mixed, and Alan Douches (Hatebreed, Mastodon) who mastered the CD.
The Sound Of Resistance is old school death metal with straight ahead riffs and song structures that are simple, but really catchy. Point Blank Rage has a bit of a hardcore vibe as well. The songs are intense and mostly mid-tempo with big chugging riffs and an excellent groove. You'll hear some blast beats mixed in as well.
Leblanc's vocals are the usual death metal growls, and he has a low pitched voice and angry delivery. Point Blank Rage changes things up a bit, but even more variety would help separate them from the death metal pack. Still, The Sound Of Resistance is a worthy debut worth checking out, especially for old school death metal fans.
