Poisonblack - Lust Stained DespairCentury Media Records
What started as a side project is now the main band for Ville Laihiala since his other group Sentenced broke up. The Finnish band's sophomore album features Laihiala on vocals as well as guitar because vocalist J.P. Leppaluoto left the group after their debut.

Poisonblack sounds better with Laihiala on vocal duties. He's a versatile singer who does a good job matching the intensity of the music with his vocal style. Their music is traditional metal with a gothic edge. It's very melodic with big catchy choruses, but also has darker undercurrents that add that element of gothic metal.

Another strong point of the album is the guitar work of Laihiala and Janne Markus. They have the chance to show their stuff with several extended solos. From intense, uptempo songs to acoustic ballads, Poisonblack pulls out all the stops and makes this CD far superior to their debut.
