Prong - Power Of The Damager

Prong - Power Of The Damager

13th Planet Records
Prong has been around since the mid '80s, and their heydey was in the late '80s through about 1995. They were on a major label and had some popular singles like "Snap Your Fingers, Snap Your Neck." They split in 1997 and reformed in 2002. Scorpio Rising was released in 2003 to mixed response.

Power Of The Damager is Prong's latest CD, and the first on Ministry frontman Al Jourgensen's 13th Planet Records. Prong vocalist/guitarist Tommy Victor played with Jourgensen in Ministry. This album is a definite return to form for Prong. The songs are heavy and dirty with great guitar riffs and some industrial influence as well. It's an energetic and sometimes frenetic album that's both intense and catchy.

Victor's vocals are a combination of raspy melodic singing, straightforward spoken word vocals, and angrier yells. Power Of The Damager isn't quite as good as some of Prong's early '90s albums, but this is the best CD they've released in a long time.
