The Los Angeles band Prototype is difficult to pigeonhole. Their music has many different facets ranging from power metal to progressive to thrash. It's a good combination of aggression and melody, mixing thrash style guitar riffs with complicated arrangements. The songs are diverse, and you'll hear things like a mellow progressive instrumental interlude that cranks up into an intense metal section and then tranforms into a power metal chorus.
The songs are very well written and the vocals diverse. And even though the album is enjoyable, it could use more really memorable singalong hooks and choruses that would make it great.
