Rob Zombie - Zombie Live

Geffen Records
In the past few years Rob Zombie's movie career has surpassed his musical career. He's made successful films like his Halloween remake and House Of 1000 Corpses. But he's still making music, and in 2006 released Educated Horses, his most experimental album to date. This live album was recorded on that tour.

Zombie's backing band includes guitarist John 5 (David Lee Roth, Marilyn Manson), bassist Piggy D(Wednesday 13) and drummer Tommy Clufetos (Ted Nugent, Alice Cooper). The songs on Zombie Live cover Zombie's whole career. There are songs from 1998's Hellbilly Deluxe, 2001's The Sinister Urge, and of course a few from his latest, 2006's Educated Horses. He also goes back to the White Zombie days for classics like "More Human Than Human" and "Thunderkiss '65."

This is an excellent live album. The musicianship is good, and the rawness of the live performance hasn't been polished off in the production process. I've seen Zombie live, and this album does a very good job capturing the vibe and spirit of his show.
