Various Artists - Saw III Soundtrack

When the first Saw was released a few years ago, the low budget slasher movie was a huge success. In Hollywood success breeds sequels, so now we are up to Saw III, which is billed as the bloodiest and most violent one yet.

It used to be that horror movies used classical music to infuse a mood of terror and scariness. But with horror movies becoming less about suspense and more about blood and body count, it makes sense to use metal music as the soundtrack. Saw III Soundtrack is a star studded collection of metal, hard rock and alternative artists. It features metal legends Slayer along with critical favorites Lamb Of God and Mastodon and commericial favorites Avenged Sevenfold, Eighteen Visions and Bullet For My Valentine. Shawnee Smith, one of the stars of the movie, is also featured on one of the songs.

This is an excellent compilation for metal fans that features a wide variety of artists and styles. There are plenty of big name bands featured along with some lesser known artists that deserve some attention.
