The Secret - Disintoxication

The Secret - Disintoxication

Goodfellow Records
It's been four years since the Italian band The Secret's debut CD, and since then there has been some turmoil. After membership changes, jail, drug abuse, nervous breakdowns and other trauma, they traveled to Umea, Sweden to record their latest release.

Disintoxication reflects what's happened with the band during the past few years in its raw and emotional power. The songs are extreme, but very experimental and innovative with numerous tempo and texture changes. They go from downtuned crushing doom to midtempo metalcore to lightning fast complex grindcore at the drop of a hat.

The Secret are technically adept, and do a nice job of adding just enough accessiblity to music that can be sometimes chaotic and dissonant. Disintoxication is a diverse and interesting CD.

(released February 26, 2008 on Goodfellow Records)
