The Austrian group Serenity has been around since 2001, but the current core of the band has been together since 2003. After a well received demo in 2005, this is the band's first full-length release.
Words Untold & Dreams Unlived is power metal with progressive influences. The songs are big, melodic and polished with catchy hooks. There's a nice combination of power metal songs with harder edged guitars and singalong choruses and more complex progressive tracks.
Vocalist Georg Neuhauser has the typical power metal voice with a good range and a nice tone. The keyboards are also really well done. Atmospheric synths and melodic piano add a lot of texture and depth to the songs. This is a strong debut that power and prog metal fans may want to check out.
