This is the second release from Sweden's Sonic Syndicate, and their first for Nuclear Blast. Every member of the six person band has a last name ending in -sson. There are three Sjunnessons, along with an Axelsson, a Bengtsson and a Johansson.
Only Inhuman is a combination of Scandinavian melodic death metal and metalcore. Symphonic keyboards and dual guitars are accentuated with monster breakdowns. Sonic Syndicate writes really catchy songs with tons of hooks and memorable choruses. The song "Enclave" is a ballad that could find a home on any pop radio station.
Sonic Syndicate has dual vocalists, one singing the melodic parts and one doing the death metal growls and hardcore screams. There's not much originality here, but the songs are well done. And for me, more melodic death and less metalcore would have been even more effective.
