Love And Other Disasters is even more accessible than last year's Only Inhuman. There are still plenty of aggressive guitars, screaming vocals and pummeling drums, but Sonic Syndicate's brand of melodic death metal emphasizes the melodic.
Even though the hooks and choruses are very catchy, the riffs on this CD are plenty heavy, and are even a little more intense than their last CD. Elements of metalcore still remain, which doesn't help in the uniqueness department. The vocals combine death metal growls, hardcore yells and melodic singing.
Love And Other Disasters is not much of a leap ahead for Sonic Syndicate, but they've written some pretty catchy songs. There's not a lot of originality here, but there are plenty of memorable melodies.
