Steel Attack - Diabolic Symphony

About.com Rating three out of Five

Steel Attack - Diabolic SymphonyLocomotive Records
This is the Swedish power metal band Steel Attack's fifth studio album, and the follow up to 2004's Enslaved. Their sound has progressed a bit since that release.

Diabolic Symphony is a little harder with the guitars being a little more intense. They also use a lot of keyboard, but it's not the cheesy sound you hear from some power metal bands. It's darker and effectively adds atmosphere to the CD.

The musicianship and vocals are solid throughout, but many of the songs lack really a memorable riff, hook or chorus. It's really hit or miss with some of the songs having a really good hook or singalong chorus and others lacking them. Thankfully there are many more good songs than lackluster ones, and overall it's still a worthy power metal CD.
