This CD was originally released in Europe in early 2005 and is now available in the U.S. Stonegard is a Norwegian band that takes modern rock and metal and blends it with thrash riffs and doom metal elements. It's heavy, but also very accessible.
Torgrim Torve is the band's vocalist and one of the guitarists, and his vocals are reminiscent of a kinder and gentler James Hetfield. They are melodic with just the hint of an edge. The songs are decent, but lack any really memorable hooks or choruses. It's a solid debut, but there is plenty of room for growth.
