Their latest effort is Caledonia, an intriguing mix of melodic death metal, black metal and folk metal. It's a concept album about the ancient Scottish tribe of the Picts, their war against the attacking Roman Empire and the co-existence of two completely different worlds. That is paralleled in the co-existence of the extreme Scandinavian style death metal and the Celtic folk of Suidakra's music.
You'll hear bagpipes and acoustic instruments intermingling with metal guitars and pummeling drums. The mellower Celtic songs are good, but where the band really shines is when the two worlds collide and the music is intense and still has that folk vibe and influence. Caledonia is filled with memorable songs, and is a interesting and entertaining album with a unique sound.
