Susperia - Cut From StoneCandlelight Records
Susperia is a Norwegian band that includes former members of bands such as Dimmu Borgir and Satyricon. With musical backgrounds like that, you might assume that they are a black metal band, which is incorrect.

Susperia's fourth album, Cut From Stone is a combination of thrash and melodic metal. Some songs sound like speed metal straight out of the Bay Area circa the '80s, while others have a more modern vibe.

The 11 tracks on the album have a good balance of aggression and melody. You'll hear plenty of shredding guitars and solos, but also a lot of hooks and singalong choruses. The vocals are a combination of harsh thrash-style singing/yelling and mainstream melodic singing. The CD was produced by Daniel Bergstrand (In Flames, Soilwork, Meshuggah), who does his usual excellent job of getting the best sound possible out of the band.
