Syrach - Days Of Wrath

Napalm Records
It's been over a decade since Syrach released their debut album. There have been a few demos over the years, but the Norwegian doom metal band has finally released their second CD.

Days Of Wrath is heavy and oppressive, with downtuned guitars that deliver crushing riffs. Guitarist 8-Ball also throws in some more traditional metal style riffing and soloing as well. The songs are long, and the CD clocks it at over an hour. Although it sometimes gets monotonous, Syrach throws in enough variation and changes to usually keep things interesting.

Ripper's vocals are death metal growls, although they are understandable. Silje Wergeland of Octavia Sperati lends her talents to a few songs, and her ethereal vocals are a nice contrast to Ripper's harsh vocals. Enslaved vocalist Grutle Kjellson also makes a guest appearance on the CD. Days Of Wrath has a nice blend of heaviness and melody that should appeal to doom metal fans.
