Terrorizer - Darker Days AheadCentury Media Records
Back in 1989 Terrorizer released the groundbreaking grindcore album World Downfall. Since the band barely lasted long enough to release that one, most thought they would retain their status as one album wonders.

But nearly 20 years later the band has reunited. Sort of. I'm not sure if you can call it that since only half the original members are on this CD. Guitarist Jesse Pintado and drummer Pete Sandoval are joined by new members Tony Norman (Morbid Angel) on bass and guitar and Anthony Rezhawk (Resistant Culture) on vocals.

Terrorizer's music is now more death metal than grindcore. Breakneck tempos, blast beats and blistering guitars are topped with Rezhawk's searing death metal growls. They also do a new version of "Dead Shall Rise" from World Downfall.

17 years later this edition of Terrorizer is a completely different band with a different approach. Darker Days Ahead is a very solid death metal album with a lot of memorable riffs and outstanding drumming from Pete Sandoval. But if you're expecting a grindcore sequel to their classic 1989 album, you will be sorely disappointed.
