The Esoteric - Subverter

The Esoteric - SubverterProsthetic Records
The Esoteric has been around for a decade now, and features members formerly of groups like Coalesce, Reggie And The Full Effect and Today Is The Day. The band has a really diverse sound, bringing elements of everything from metal to hardcore to punk to alt rock.

Subverter is a heavy album with powerful guitars and breakdowns, but is also very melodic and modern sounding. The vocals are mostly aggressive hardcore style yelling, but there is also some melodic singing. The screaming vocals do get a little grating and monotonous, and the melodic vocals are a welcome respite.

I suppose The Esoteric would be labeled as a metalcore band because of the breakdowns and vocal style, but they do have a broader approach and more varied influences than most bands in that genre.
