An Eternal Dark Horizon has all the droning guitars, blast beats and evil atmosphere that come standard with this genre, but they also add in several other elements that make it that much better. From acoustic guitars to brief melodic riffs, they make things interesting. The songs are really long, with a minimum length of ten minutes per track. But in those ten plus minutes you'll hear a variety of styles that make it seem like 2 or 3 different songs.
The vocals on the album are also diverse. The black metal rasps are actually intelligible, and you'll also hear lower pitched howls and even a little melodic raspy singing. The delivery is sometimes angry and evil, sometimes sorrowful. The production is just about right: not too clean and not too low-fi. An Eternal Dark Horizon has a great mix of old school black metal and a few modern touches.
