Tulus - Biography Obscene

Candlelight Records
Tulus released three albums in the mid to late '90s and then disbanded. Members Blodstrup (vocals, guitars) and Sarke (drums) went on to form Khold, who released several albums. Khold are now dormant, and it is not known for sure whether it is temporary or permanent. In the meantime, Tulus has been resurrected by Blodstrup and Sarke along with bassist Gottskalk (Old Mans Child).

Biography Obscene is black metal that's anything but standard. They add classical instruments, piano, and even some horns along with the typical black metal guitars and blast beats. It adds a bleak atmosphere and interesting texture to the music. Tulus' style can be aggressive and intense, but it's not raw. There is plenty of melody and the vocals are understandable. Female vocals are also added to the mix on a couple songs, including the title track.

In the years since their last album (1999's Evil 1999) Tulus has evolved and matured. Their songwriting has become much more distinctive and focused. Biography Obscene is also the band's first CD with lyrics that are all in English.
