War From A Harlots Mouth - Transmetropolitan

Lifeforce Records
War From A Harlots Mouth is a quintet from Berlin, Germany who formed in 2005. After releasing a split CD with the American band Molotov Solution in 2006. Transmetropolitan is their first full-length CD.

At first listen this sounds like one of a million other metalcore albums with shrieking vocals and nearly continuous breakdowns. But periodically War From A Harlots Mouth sprinkles in jazz. It may sound bizarre, but in practice it actually works pretty well. The mellow jazz sections act as interludes and give the otherwise nondescript songs a bit of uniqueness.

In addition to the jazz elements, you'll also hear a little grindcore, mathcore and hardcore in War From A Harlots Mouth. The vocals are angry yells, but are reasonably varied in pitch and delivery. There are some real creative sparks on the album, but they need a few more hooks and not as many breakdowns.
