God Luck And Good Speed is stoner/doom metal at its THC fueled best. It's heavy, sludgy and groovy with monstrous down-tuned guitar riffs. Most of the songs unfold at a medium tempo, but at times Weedeater slows it down so much you can feel the echoes of the crushing riffs thumping through your chest.
The album was produced by the legendary Steve Albini (Fugazi, Nirvana, Neurosis), except for the unusual track "Alone," which is a strange interlude with a banjo, bass and really low vocals from Collins. Speaking of vocals, Collins has a raspy voice that runs the gamut from subdued baritone to high pitched screams. God Luck And Good Speed ends with the sparse instrumental "Willow," which doesn't kill your buzz. Instead it whets your appetite for the next round of hazy, fuzzy doom from Weedeater and makes you hope it doesn't take another four years to get your fix.
