Winds Of Plague - Decimate The Weak

Century Media Records
Winds Of Plague has been around since 2002. The Southern California band recently signed to Century Media Records for their sophomore full-length. It was recorded with Daniel Castleman (As I Lay Dying) and mixed by Tue Madsen (Himsa, The Haunted), who seems to be involved with about 75 percent of all metal albums.

Decimate The Weak combines traditional death metal with hardcore and traditional metal. Winds Of Plague also have a keyboardist, which adds some symphonic elements. It's an eclectic CD, with less intense interludes added to death metal riffs and metalcore breakdowns.

Johnny Plague's vocals are mainly hardcore screams with gang shoutalong choruses on some of the songs. He mixes in death metal style vocals as well. Decimate The Weak is hit and miss. There are some well-constructed songs that are catchy and memorable, but several that don't really stand out.

(released February 5, 2008 on Century Media Records)
