The Swedish progressive metal band Wolverine is in great form on their third CD. The songs are very complex and textured with superb musicianship, but also a ton of great melodies. Several of the songs are pretty much mainstream prog rock, but there are also several songs that have more of a metal element with dirtier guitar sounds and more intensity.
Vocalist Stefan Zell is outstanding. His voice has a great tone, and sounds excellent whether he's singing softly or belting it out. He has a lot of expressiveness in his delivery and also a lot of power and range.
This is a very good progressive metal album. It's diverse and you'll hear influences of everything from Queensryche to Opeth to Pink Floyd to Dream Theater.
