Metal bands with a sense of humor are great, but metal bands with a sense of humor who can also play really well are even better. Zimmers Hole falls into the latter category. It's been 7 years since we've heard from the wacky Canadians, whose lineup is 3/4 of Strapping Young Lad (guitarist Jed Simon, bassist Byron Stroud and drummer Gene Hoglan) along with vocalist The Heathen (Chris Valagao). The other Strapping Young Lad member, Devin Townsend, did the vocal production.

Though there are tons of metal cliches and cheesy lyrics on When You Were Shouting At The Devil, there are just as many great thrash riffs and catchy hooks. Zimmers Hole adds in elements of death metal and industrial metal as well. These guys are excellent musicians, and Hoglan is one of the best in the business. He's also the drummer for the real life version of Dethklok, and was able to convince Dethklok's Nathan Explosion to make a guest appearance.

It doesn't quite seem right that a parody metal tongue in cheek project is better and more entertaining than a lot of the "real" CDs that are out there, but that's exactly the case with When You Were Shouting At The Devil, We Were In League With Satan.
