Guide Review - Aborym - Generator
There have been some lineup changes since the Italian black metal band's last album. Vocalist Attila Csihar rejoined Mayhem and was replaced by Prime Evil. Drummer Faust (Emperor) has become a permanent member of the band.
Their latest effort is a slab of raw black industrial metal with a lot of atmospheric synthesizer parts. There's a nice contrast between the harsh guitars and the lush synths. Then the vocals cut through everything with an evil howl. Prime Evil's vocals are excellent, and Cshihar does appear on one track.
With the use of synths and an industrial style, there's a risk of sounding sterile. The outstanding drumming of Faust keeps that from happening. He adds a bit of a groove to the atmosphere of evil.
