Guide Review - Apiary - Lost In Focus
On their debut album the California metalcore band shows a lot of musical prowess. Their brand of math metal type metalcore is complex and brutal in the vein of groups like Dillinger Escape Plan and Converge.
Apiary's songs are both aggressive and progressive with some very innovative riffs. Unfortunately they tend to repeat those same riffs over and over within the song until they don't seem quite as creative. The vocals are angry and intense, and although pretty much unintelligible fit in well. This is a group with a lot of potential, and if they vary the riffs and amp up the melody could be even better.
