Guide Review - Battered - Battered
When the Viking metal band Einherger split up a couple years ago three of their members (drummer Gerhard Storesund guitarist Frode Glesnes and guitarist Aksel Herløe. singer Siggy Olaisen and bassist Ole Moldesæther from Headblock round out the lineup. However, they left all the influences of their former bands behind.
Battered is modern thrash metal with crisp clear guitar riffs and plenty of double bass. They draw influences from all the usual thrash suspects like Slayer and Pantera. They also add a bit of a grindcore flavor in some of the songs. Olaisen's vocals are decent and he uses several different pitches ranging from a low growl to a screech.
This isn't anything new or groundbreaking, but it is very solid and well played thrash metal.
