Guide Review - Cattle Decapitation - Karma Bloody Karma

Most metal bands sound pissed off, but it's nice when that anger has a purpose. For Cattle Decapitation, that purpose is to graphically espouse their pro-vegetarian anti-human philosophy. Their latest effort pulls no punches, and vocalist Travis Ryan describes it best. "This will be the most nihilistic, pessimistic and hateful record we've ever done lyrically."

Musically it's pretty intense as well. Cattle Decapitation combines traditional death metal with intense grindcore, and manage to somehow squeeze some melody out of their maelstrom of technical riffs and relentless noise. Ryan's vocals range from indecipherable death metal growls to indecipherable high pitched yowls. You have to check the lyric sheet to decipher the aforementioned nihilistic, pessimistic and hateful lyrics.

Cattle Decapitation is an extreme band with extreme views, and this CD is punishing, relentless and passionate.
