Guide Review - Danko Jones - Sleep Is The Enemy

The Canadian power trio Danko Jones aren't out to reinvent the wheel. They sound like they're having a lot of fun, and that attitude is infectious. Their latest effort is upbeat and aggressive without being too angry or too peppy. Bluesy riffs are abundant, and the choruses are very catchy.

If you require your music to be highly technical with complex songs and precise musicianship, skip this CD. If you like your music to be fun and melodic with AC/DC and Thin Lizzy influences this is right up your alley. Sometimes there is beauty in simplicity, and Danko Jones manages to take simple 1 or 2 chord songs and make them really memorable. It's raw and engaging, and as an added bonus there's even a guest vocal appearance by John Garcia from Kyuss.
