Guide Review - Dead To Fall - The Phoenix Throne
One sign of a good young band is that they progress and improve with each album. That's exactly what Dead To Fall has done, and their third album is their best one yet.
The band's songwriting is what has improved the most. Their songs are influenced by Scandinavian metal and also thrash. The riffage and rhythm section are rock solid, and they experiment with a few different styles and textures. They brought in Symphony X's Michael Romeo, who put together an epic composition that includes a full orchestra and choir.
Jonathan Hunt also progresses in his lyrics, which are more conceptual on this album. His vocals are aggressive and intense, but a little more diversity in that area would be even better.
