Guide Review - Dragonforce - Inhuman Rampage

After having success in Europe, the UK power metal band Dragonforce has their sights set on the U.S. They are going to get a lot of exposure being on the main stage of Ozzfest 2006, and it will be interesting to see if their style of power metal will be accepted by the masses.

This album has some fantastic guitar work, led by Herman Li, who won the Dimebag Darrell Award at the UK Metal Hammer awards. Along with Sam Totman, you'll hear some spectacular shredding. Dragonforce plays power metal a little faster and a little more intensely than your average band and call their style "extreme power metal."

Vocalist Z.P. Theart has a voice that's perfect for the genre. It's powerful and soaring with a lot of range and emotion. Each song on the album ranges from 5 to 8 minutes long, which allows plenty of time for guitar gymnastics. The musicianship and vocals on this album are top-notch. The only thing a little cliched are the typical fantasy based power metal lyrics.
