Guide Review - Dreams Of Damnation - Epic Tales Of Vengeance

It's been six years since Dreams Of Damnation released their debut EP. Since then former Dark Angel guitarist Jim Durkin has put together an entirely new lineup. DOD's music is old school thrash with great riffs and solos from Durkin and rhythm guitarist Rick Alsup. The songs are fast and aggressive and gallop along at warp speed.

Where the modern influence comes in is the vocals. Instead of singing or thrash style vocals, this album features the death metal howls of Loana dP Valencia. Her voice is powerful, raw and angry, which fits in perfectly with the pace and attitude of thrash. Dreams Of Damnation brings a potent mix of classic thrash and modern metal and the only flaw is that the album is only 6 songs long plus an intro. But I suppose leaving people wanting more is better than overstaying your welcome.
