Guide Review - Gadget - The Funeral March

On their sophomore album Gadget is able to play at full throttle breakneck pace with drums being pounded at warp speed and guitar strings smoking because they're being played so fast. But much more impressive is their ability to dial it back. A few of the songs are mid-tempo with a really good groove that gives the individual players a little more exposure.

The band's most obvious influences are Nasum and Napalm Death. From looking at the lyrics sheet it appears they do a couple of songs in their native Swedish, although you'd never be able to tell. The vocals are an unintelligible rasp buried deep in the mix. In just 30 minutes Gadget unleashes 17 barrages of extremity that are enough to crush you into submission, but they have enough variety in tempos that you're able to periodically catch a breather before they unload again.
