Guide Review - Satyricon - Now, Diabolical

This is one of the most accessible black metal albums you'll hear. Whether that's good or bad depends on your perspective. If you're looking for something cold and dissonant with a lot of ambient sounds and unintelligible vocals, this isn't for you.

If, on the other hand, you like music that is dark and melodic, this will be right up your alley. On their latest effort the Norwegian black metal duo of Satyr and Frost have delivered music that is very rock based with catchy hooks and melodic guitar riffs. The vocals are black metal style rasps, but they are front and center instead of being buried in the mix, and you can actually understand every word he says.

This album may alienate some black metal fans because it's too commercial or not evil enough, but I think it will attract even more fans that may not usually listen to black metal because it is more accessible.
