Guide Review - Therion - Live Gothic
Live Gothic is a double CD and 1 DVD set. There are 22 songs spread over the two discs, and the DVD is the visual version of that same 2007 concert in Warsaw, Poland. The setlist focuses primarily on 2007's Gothic Kabbalah, but they cover a lot of other material as well. There are songs going back to 1996's Theli. Tracks from 1998's Vovin, 1999's Crowning Of Atlantis, 2000's Deggial, 2001's Secret Of The Runes, 2004's Sirius B and 2004's Lemuria are also featured.
The band sounds great, with thick riffs and the orchestral majesty Therion is known for. The vocalists for the concert were Lori Lewis (Aesma Daeva), Katarina Lilja (Sobre Nocturne), Mats Leven (who has since left the band) and Snowy Shaw (King Diamond, Mercyful Fate).
Live CDs are designed to appeal to fans of a band, and Live Gothic satisfies with great audio and video quality, a diverse song selection, and of course a great performance by Therion.
