Guide Review - Ultralord - We Hate You And Hope You Die
There's no doubt where Ultralord is coming from. If you didn't guess from the cover art that's a hand coming up from a pentagram flipping you off the title should clue you in. This is one angry, evil band.
There are a lot of different elements in Ultralord's sound. Doom metal is probably the dominant genre, but a lot of the songs are fast and have a thrash metal feel. There are even some hardcore punk influences. And with song titles like "Don't Fear The Reefer" you know there's some stoner metal there as well.
There's a feeling of rawness throughout the album, from the angry vocals to the grungy guitars to the less than polished production values. They are a versatile band, able to pull off slow and doomy just as well as fast and thrashy.
