Guide Review - Vader - Impressions In Blood

After releasing the EP The Art Of War, the Polish death metal band returns with a new full length. Impressions In Blood is even better than the EP, which I rated at 4 out of 5 stars.

On this CD Vader tempers their brutality with some very catchy moments. There are plenty of devastating blast beats and powerful riffs, but also some really groovy riffs and searing solos. They combine breakneck technical death songs with slower, more traditional death metal compositions. Vader also inserts some black metal style intros and interludes that give the whole CD a more epic sound.

The vocals on the album are raspy death metal growls, but are very understandable, which is even more amazing when you consider English isn't even their first language. After 20 years together, Vader is still one of the best death metal bands out there today, and one of the most overlooked and underrated. Hopefully this album will help change that.
