In its short existence, Gigantour has quickly become one of the top U.S. touring festivals. It was started by Megadeth's Dave Mustaine, who has been able to put together very strong lineups. Last fall, Gigantour 2 took place with Megadeth, Lamb Of God, Opeth, Arch Enemy, Overkill, Into Eternity, Sanctity and The Smash Up.
The Gigantour 2 DVD does an excellent job capturing the festival. Each band is represented with at least one song, and headliners Megadeth have three. There's also a hidden bonus track of Megadeth's "Peace Sells." The audio quality is great, recording in 5.1 surround sound. The video quality is also top notch.
There's not much for bonus material. A behind the scenes documentary features interviews with Mustaine and other bands along with footage of backstage antics and show setup. It's actually pretty interesting and worth watching. Gigantour 3 is going on as this review is being written, and this DVD is a great way to relive Gigantour 2.
