Metal Blade Records - 25th Anniversary: Live In Worcester, MA

Metal Blade Records
Metal Blade Records celebrated their 25th anniversary at the New England Metal and Hardcore Festival in Worcester, Massachusetts in April of 2007. On the Saturday of the festival every band on the bill was a Metal Blade band.

I had the opportunity to attend and cover the festival this year, and it was cool to relive it via DVD. You can even see me briefly during the Cannibal Corpse set taking photos. The DVD is 28 songs from 15 different artists including Unearth, Cannibal Corpse, The Black Dahlia Murder, The Red Chord, Job For A Cowboy, Lizzy Borden, God Dethroned, Goatwhore and others.

The sound and video quality are good. There are plenty of crowd shots along with the bands. They do a nice job capturing the rawness and intensity of the performances, which weren't always perfect, but had plenty of energy. The bonus footage includes various bands wishing Metal Blade a happy 25th anniversary along with backstage footage and interviews.

Metal Blade, with the leadership and passion of Brian Slagel and a great staff, has been a hugely influential label for a quarter century. Metal Blade Records 25th Anniversary: Live In Worcester, MA does a nice job capturing the anniversary concert.
