Paul Stanley - One Live Kiss DVD

New Door Records
Paul Stanley's non-Kiss career path has differed from some of his bandmates. Instead of tawdry reality shows and writing books about prostitutes, Stanley has gone in a classier direction. He's an artist who has exhibited and sold his paintings at galleries across the world.

One Live Kiss was filmed in November of 2006 at the House Of Blues in Chicago during a tour supporting Stanley's solo CD Live To Win. It includes songs from that CD along with Kiss songs.

The DVD starts with a brief prologue narrated by Stanley that talks about his background. Then the concert begins, kicked off by the title track from Live To Win. He plays about half the songs from that album in addition to huge Kiss hits like "Strutter," "Love Gun" and "Detroit Rock City." He's in his mid '50s now, but Stanley's voice still sounds good and he hasn't lost any power or range. His backing band is also very tight.

The audio and video quality on the DVD are very good. Both Dolby 5.1 and stereo audio is available. The most disappointing part of the DVD is that there are no extras. Putting in a documentary, interview, bonus footage, music videos or anything at all would have made it even better. Paul Stanley and Kiss fans will enjoy the concert, but a few extras would have been nice.
