Chad Bowar: Have you filmed any videos for this CD?
Paul Mazurkiewicz: We just returned today. We went yesterday and filmed the video in New Jersey for “Evisceration Plague.” We flew out early in the morning, got picked up, went to the video shoot, did the video and flew back. I think it’s going to turn out pretty cool. It’s a good song. We did it a little late in the game, but I can’t wait to see it.

You’re headed over to Europe to tour with Children Of Bodom as their opening act. Will that be a little strange not headlining?
They are a bigger band than we are, and that’s what we were looking to accomplish. The only way we’re going to expand the band is by opening for a big band like that. We’re going to be playing anywhere between 2000 and 4000 seat venues. If we were doing our own headlining tour, we wouldn’t be playing these capacities. Death metal fans might wonder why we’re opening for a band like that. They are still a heavy band and are fans of death metal. We’re going to give it a shot, and hopefully it won’t backfire. I don’t think it will. We’re trying to expand the band. We’re going to go back there and play a typical headlining tour, but this will be something new and exciting for us. It will be a lot of fun.

Will there be a U.S. tour later this year?
We’re going to be touring pretty much the whole year. We have a Canadian tour lined up in April, and then a big summer tour happening. We’ll also be hitting the states again toward the end of the year. We’ll be doing a lot of touring for this CD, and I’m sure it will go well into 2010.

Does the current bad economy concern you as far as show attendance?
It’s going to have to be a concern when you see the things that are happening. Right now we’re so psyched to put out a new CD and we’ve been through so much adversity over the past 20 years through whatever’s been happening in the world, it’s always been pretty good for us. We’re anticipating that kids are going to want to see us and will hopefully buy the CD. It’s a good question, but we’ll see what happens when we get out there.

And unlike some bands, Cannibal Corpse isn’t charging 200 bucks a ticket for your concerts.
Exactly. It’s not an arm and a leg. It’s such a different ballgame when you’re dealing with death metal. We have such great fans, such rabid fans no matter what’s happening.

In terms of exposing the band to a wider audience, who would have thought you’d ever hear a Cannibal Corpse song on the radio? But thanks to satellite, it’s happening.
Exactly. That’s amazing. It seems like a few years ago they said death metal is dead, but it’s bigger than it’s ever been. It’s great you can have death metal played on Sirius and XM and on cable TV. It’s awesome for us. I’ll be excited to see what happens when Evisceration Plague comes out, because of all the things that have happened in the three years since Kill came out.
