Paolo Gregoletto Interview

By , About.com Guide

What's the status of your next album?
It's called The Crusade. When we get back from the U.K. in March we're doing it. It's all written. We're probably going to write one more song. Then we're going to jam it all out at the beginning of April and start demoing it. Once we start recording it should go fast. The main thing is the jamming and the fine tuning of the songs.

Do you have a producer lined up yet? Jason Suecof is going to be doing it again, but we're going to have someone else mix it this time to get the natural tone we want. We really want a natural CD. We don't want it to sound like everyone else's. Everything is so polished now that you can take a mediocre band and make them sound good with slick production. We really want to focus on writing good songs with good natural production.

What musical direction will the new album go in?
We're not making any drastic changes. The biggest change will be the main style of singing. We've done it before, but now it's going to be the main style of singing. Matt started singing very heavy, very aggressive, like Testament, and that fits us better. Me personally I'm not into screaming. I like melody. It's awesome that we're moving in that direction with the vocals. We're really going to try to expand with it. Matt has gotten a lot stronger as a singer. The music itself is getting better. We're getting thrashier and more melodic. I think the CD will be a mix of thrashy, more technical Rust In Peace stuff with '80s Skid Row/Motley Crue. We're really into all that stuff, and we want to play everything we like.
