Andrew Kapper

Raised in the overly hot surroundings of Brisbane, Australia, Andrew Kapper’s love of metal and rock was engraved into his brain from a young age. Being blessed with having parents who have a deep-set passion for music, Andrew was introduced at a young age to variety of acts that still remain his favorites to this very day, such as Soundgarden, Rage Against The Machine, Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin.

After discovering a knack for piecing words together in a legible fashion while studying Music Performance, Andrew began contributing to a number of Australian metal websites, covering countless national and international albums, as well as any major acts that rolled into Brisbane – from Behemoth, Napalm Death and Despised Icon to Foo Fighters, Dream Theater and The Dillinger Escape Plan.

Andrew currently is living in London, and also contributes to Planet Loud, SMN News and Metal Underground.

‘Obsessed’ probably isn’t an extreme enough word to describe my relationship with music. I just can’t help myself but spend hours every day trawling through sites, blogs and zines looking for the next band to catch my ear. I love going to gigs and seeing band in the flesh as well – the atmosphere, the volume and the anticipation, it just can’t be put into words – hell, the reason why I moved from Brisbane to London is to see more shows!

While metal and rock takee up a fair chuck of my listening palate, all genres have the potential to offer up great tunes, with '90s era rap (specifically G-funk) having been a recent and surprising discovery of mine. But really, to my ears nothing can beat massive guitars and pile driving drums!
