Dan Marsicano

By , About.com Guide

Meet Dan Marsicano:

Dan stepped foot into music journalism a couple years ago, after writing a few album reviews on the side during his high school years. He started out with 411 Mania and branched out from there, starting with reviewing whatever he could find and eventually finding his niche with metal-related topics.

Experience:

Dan began to write album reviews for 411 Mania in March 2007. From there, he worked his way up to news, features, and a weekly column, eventually becoming one of the veteran critics employed with the site. Dan recently signed on with SMN News and Metal Underground, writing reviews and interviews/feature stories.

From Dan Marsicano:

It is a real privilege to have the opportunity to write for About.com. I became a fan of metal when my parents introduced me to Metallica at the ripe age of 11. From there, I expanded to other genres, including death, black, and doom. However, I’ve always been especially fond of progressive rock/metal like Pink Floyd, Genesis, and Dream Theater. I try to keep an open mind when it comes to metal music, never feeling content to stick to one particular genre.
The entire writing staff on this site is phenomenal and I look forward to learning a lot from them, as well as showcasing my devotion and brutal honesty to everything that has to do with the metal genre.
